Most incoming college students feel the pressure to pay off their tuition and living expenses and earn a good grade. While that’s not the point, there are some ways to make money as a student. Here are a few to look into.

1. Work at a minimum wage job

Serve on your college or local government’s board of directors to gain experience or volunteering. The second option is a minimum wage job. Where they differ is that at minimum wage job it pays just $7.25 an hour. Make a minimum wage job your own by making it easier to work. Be productive and stress less about earning minimum wage. Choose your classes wisely and work even when you don’t need to. Your work will be appreciated while also providing a small amount of income.

2. Sign up for the right courses

These days, it’s easy to find practical courses to help out your future earnings. Job reviews websites like Indeed and the Khan Academy are great places to go to find practical courses. Find the right classes to advance your career, and pay off your student loans early on. Make your classes meaningful and finish all your work by graduating in four years or better.

3. Get a part-time job

For most students, getting a part-time job can help make money. Create something similar to a freelancing job. If you don’t have a background in writing, even getting an internship can help make money. Find the perfect project and raise the bar on your own content and rates. Then, find out if it’s worth being your own boss.

4. Become a babysitter

Often times, one of the best ways to get paid to babysit is an opportunity to earn college credit. This could be for rotations or a part-time job as a teacher’s assistant. A part-time job to care for babies or young children usually requires at least three shifts a week. Plus, it’s also a great time to graduate college and earn even more money.

5. Launch a side business

The crowdfunding site Indiegogo is great for group fundraising. Take advantage of it to raise money for an exciting upcoming invention or a new idea to earn side income. Create a product and help someone with it. At the same time, make money off of your existing projects to grow your business. Imagine how much more you can do with less work, but time! For those of you who also use a side hustle in the workplace, consider carving out a better part of your day for this.

Student money will help you earn some supplemental cash in addition to your regular job. While this is a business that is always moving forward, it’s important to remember that the key to success is time. Make the most of it by saving money, finding opportunities for growth, and continuing to do the best you can while at school and in college.
